Award-winning filmmaker Liz Tadic from
Australia and is making a documentary about Food Not Bombs. Food Not
Bombs cofounder Keith McHenry is also writing a companion book about the
30 year history of the Food Not Bombs movement. These two projects will
introduce our exciting movement to a mass audience, and invite everyone to
join in the effort to bring peace and justice to the world. Liz and Keith
visited Food Not Bombs groups in over 100 cities in Europe, the Middle East
and the Americas. Keith has kept a journal of their trips and Liz has taken
over 150 hours of video. She interviewed former San Francisco Mayor Art
Agnos, Noam Chompski , Howard Zinn, Frances Fox Piven and Frances Moore
Lappé, as well as hundreds of homeless people, activists and Food not Bombs
volunteers. While visiting over
100 Food Not Bombs groups Keith helped collect, cook and share food. He
also gave a talks about the history of Food Not Bombs and interviewed
volunteers about how their group started, how they organize their
activities and what problems and successes they have had. He is also
collecting videos made by Food Not Bombs groups that shows at his talks.
Liz Tadic is a respected,
award-winning journalist. This one hour documentary will air on major TV
networks all over the world reaching millions of people who may not have
heard about this valuable social movement. We need to visit Food Not Bombs
groups in Asia, edit a trailer to send to TV stations and to buy the
footage from the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, El Salvador, Chetchnia, the
nuclear bombing of Japan and starvation as well as music rights. We also
need to pay for graphics, narrations and many other production costs.
