The more people that attend this presentation the more people that will be inspired to help change the world.
Promoting your Food Not
Bombs presentation will also give you a chance to practice some valuable
skills. First invite as many campus groups as possible to co-sponsor the
presentation. The co-sponsors will have their own email lists and
contacts making it possible to reach more students. After arrainging a
venue, time and date you are ready to promote the presentation. First email us
the date, time, location of the venue and we will post it to the schedule on our website. You can also post the details on locla activists websites.
You can use this check list to help organize the presentation and promotion.
The public service
announcement
Email or fax the public service announcement to your local
student newspaper and campus radio station. You can also send the PSA to local newspapers, radio and TV stations off campus. Follow up with
a phone call and ask them if they would be interested in interviewing members of your group and let them know Keith McHenry would also be
happy to speak on their program or do an interview by phone. You can also email the PSA to your classmates and campus email lists. Post the PSA on local websites and email it to local activist groups in your area.
Contacting the local and campus media is really important helping reach new people that might want to participate in a project like Food Not Bombs but are not part of your online social network. The issues addressed by this presentation are so important that we would like to involve as many people as possible.
The news clips and media reports can be very helpful for you and your organization in the future. Future employers will be impressed to discover that your work was featured in the media.
Your club or organization can
promote the presentation by staffing a literature with copis of our flyers table at the student union, at concerts
and downtown in your community. Keith loves to
help staff your table the day of the event. He will make a point of
meeting you just before lunch the day of the presentation. It is a great
way to vist with Keith and your classmates get a chance to ask questions
and share their ideas before the presentation.
One effective way to announce the presentation is by
posting flyers all over campus and throughout the community. You can
download our flyer and add the time, date, location and co-sponsors or
you are welcome to use our images and make your own poster. Some student
unions will provide you with a space to post a large bill board.
Electronic video announcements are avalible on many campuses so feel
free to use our images to make a promotional slide. You can down load additional flyers on hunger, poverty and other issues to include copies of
