INVITE OTHER STUDENTS
TO HELP YOU ORGANIZE THE PRESENTATION
The first thing you can do seek the contact
information for all the student organizations on campus. The
Student Senate or staff at the Student Union can help you. Amnesty
International or SDS chapters, peace, social justice, environmental and campus
animal rights groups would be interested in hosting our presentation.
Try to talk with the club leaders as soon as fall semester starts. If
you are not already in a student group or club another great way to start
organizing for the presentation can begin by down loading this flyer and posting it on
boards all cross campus. You can add your phone number or email in the space provided.
You could also take copies to each student organization when speaking to them about in hosting the presentation.
You will be able to get more students
involved. Soon more student clubs and classmates will asking if they can
help arrainge the presentation.
Promoting your Food Not
Bombs presentation will give you a chance to practice some valuable
skills. First invite as many campus groups as possible to co-sponsor the
presentation. The co-sponsors will have their own email lists and
contacts making it possible to reach more students. After arrainging a
venue, time and date you are ready to promote the presentation. You can use this check list to help organize the presentation and promotion.
The public service
announcement
Email or fax the public service announcement to your local
student newspaper and campus radio station. You can also send the PSA to local newspapers, radio and TV stations off campus. Follow up with
a phone call and ask them if they would be interested in interviewing
members of your group and let them know Keith McHenry would also be
happy to speak on their program or do an interview by phone. You can also email the PSA to your classmates and campus email lists. Post the PSA on local websites and email it to local activist groups in your area.
Your club or organization can
promote the presentation at a table at the student union, at concerts
and downtown in your community. Keith loves to
help staff your table the day of the event. He will make a point of
meeting you just before lunch the day of the presentation. Its a great
way to vist with Keith and your classmates get a chance to ask questions
and share their ideas before the presentation.
One effective way to announce the presentation is by
posting flyers all over campus and throughout the community. You can
download our flyer and add the time, date, location and co-sponsors or
you are welcome to use our images and make your own poster. Some student
unions will provide you with a space to post a large bill board.
Electronic video announcements are avalible on many campuses so feel
free to use our images to make promotional slide.
Keith has
been interviewed on radio, TV and for many newspapers, and magazines.
Please arrange interviews with your local media to promote the
